The canal passage was interesting, slow but there was a lot going on. Three train engines per side to ensure the boat was centred in the canal. It might show in one of the photos that we had about 2 feet of clearance on either side! Lake Gatineau is filled with islands, very green on the shore and eventually becomes only the river at the southern end, before it splits into the new and old canals ( old called Panamax, new called ….. wait for it …… Neopanamax!).

Panama City is not quite what we expected. It reminded Jane and me of Dubai! A lot of tall interesting buildings and far larger than we had imagined. Old town was really nice, several hulks of buildings but they are rebuilding several of them. Lots of shopping and plenty of restaurants. Hot though, not enough air movement.

We wandered with Sue and Shaun then dropped them in town to await their Uber (not enough room in the car for 10 bags and 4 people). Don’t worry, they made their flight!

Off to Coronado we go!
