And Back Again, After Antarctica
It was some kind of passage, the Drake Passage. The captain predicted only 3 to 4 meter swells before we reach land again. We are on our way to Ushuaia and Puerto Arenas.
We have a tour booked for Ushuaia, ‘The Train to the End of the World’. This is the original prison train that was created in about 1902. It was for the prisoners to go out to cut wood for the prison and town and haul the wood. It wasn’t long, 24 kms, but interesting country. There are ‘wild’ horses in the fields. It is a national park and the horses once had an owner but apparently he died and just left the horses to roam so technically they are not wild just loose.
The train is small and always has been. It is very narrow gauge and does nor travel fast. The passenger cars are comfortable but tight. They have a large machine shop they use to repair the engines as I don’t think they make them anymore.
