Heading South

Slowly but surely we head to Antarctica. Every day another 600+ nautical miles closer.

Puerto Madryn was a nice little town. Fairly modern, no real old section to speak of. We aren’t there to see that anyway, we are here to dive!

We head off the boat (everyone says it’s not a boat it’s a ship) with the rest of everyone. It seems that after one day at sea everybody wants off! The dive shop isn’t far and we set out to the dive boat. Only after we suit up in about 9 mm of neoprene. Lots of rubber to hold off the 14 degree water. There are 4 divers, 2 masters, three snorkelers, the captain and the mate. Seems to me a little like Gilligan’s Island. 30 minutes to the seals. They can be pretty noisy.

The visibility is crappy. Maybe 2 meters. Not many seals in the water either but we got to see some. The surge is rough as we are only 2 or 3 meters blown, boyancy is tough too. Because of this we decide to abandon this area and dive the wreck instead.

I have video that I can bore you with later.

Then on to the next adventure!
